Timber Framed Windows Application

Summary

The customer is a manufacturer of timber framed windows and doors for both commercial and private individuals. Currently frames are manufactured on a CNC and handled manually to remove all debris/waste products before the frames move on to the next stage.

Issue to be resolved

Currently during the manufacturing of product, a fair amount of sawdust, woodchips and offcuts are generated which are manually removed and cleaned from the CNC machine to allow for product to move onto the next stage of manufacturing. The customer is looking to automate this to allow for better production throughput, higher efficiencies, and lower costs.

Action taken

The Wire Belt Technical Sales team consulted with the customer to determine what their requirements were for disposing of offcuts, woodchips and sawdust. Through continued discussion with the customer, Eye-Flex® was determined to be the best choice their application, due to the customisation available on aperture/gap size. Along with this, Wire Belt Technical Sales identified that the customer would benefit from using a Straight Conveyor to transport product from the CNC to the next processing station.

Results

Wire Belt has offered the customer a Straight Conveyor fit with Eye-Flex® Conveyor Belting, that will effectively transport the completed product away from the CNC, while allowing sawdust, offcuts and woodchips to fall through the belt, into a collection trough. From here the by-products will be disposed using a vacuum system implemented by the customer.
